About
We are a small practice in Vienna that works on one market. This page explains why that is a decision rather than a limitation, and what we hold ourselves to while we do it.
The practice
We help Austrian brands, and brands selling into Austria, get cited by the publications Austrian people actually read. That is the whole remit. We do not run a regional programme with an Austrian tab on it, and we do not take briefs we would have to learn on your budget.
Working in a single market costs us work. Pan-regional briefs arrive most months and we turn down the parts we cannot do properly. The trade is worth it, because judging whether an Austrian publication deserves your brand's name is not something anyone can do from outside with a metrics tool open. It comes from reading the archive in German, knowing which regional titles people still pick up in Graz or Linz, and knowing which desks reply to email and which never will. That knowledge does not travel, so we stopped pretending it does.
We are not a network with an Austrian desk. The same people who write the shortlist write the articles and handle the publishers. If you want a large team with a slide about every DACH market, we are the wrong firm, and we will say so.
Austria's media market is concentrated. There are fewer credible publications than in a market the size of Germany's, and the distance between a title that carries weight and one that exists to sell placements is easier to miss from outside than you would expect.
In a large market, one mediocre placement is diluted by the good ones around it. Here it stands out, and so does a good one. That is the entire argument for being selective rather than busy.
Standards
These are not aspirations. They are the rules that decide what we will and will not do on your account.
Every prospect is read by a person before it reaches your shortlist. No automated qualification, and no list bought from a broker.
Every article is written in German by a native speaker who follows this market. Nothing translated from English, nothing machine-drafted.
You see publishers with the cost and our reservations attached, and nothing is placed on a site you have not approved.
Reporting is a file you open yourself, with live URLs in it, updated as placements move rather than at the end of a month.
We do not promise positions, and we are openly sceptical of anyone who does. We commit to the quality of the work and the honesty of the reporting.
We do not quote statistics we cannot stand behind. If we do not know something, the answer is that we do not know it.
During an engagement
You deal with the people doing the work. There is no account layer between you and the person writing your article or negotiating with the publisher, and correspondence happens in English or German, whichever suits you.
You get live URLs rather than a login to a dashboard that shows only what we chose to put in it. If a placement is late, you hear the word late from us in the week it happens, not in a summary at the end of the month.
And if we think a target you have set is the wrong one, we will say so. That is occasionally an uncomfortable conversation and always a cheaper one than the alternative.
The office is in the seventh district, a short walk from Westbahnhof. Visits are by appointment, and the coffee is better than the average agency reception.
