An Alpine hospitality group with a strong winter brand, empty shoulder months, and coverage that still read like a translated brochure.

Situation
The group runs properties that fill reliably in peak winter and struggle for the rest of the year. Marketing had poured budget into seasonal campaigns and OTA presence, but Austrian travellers searching for city breaks, wellness stays and shoulder-season weekends rarely encountered the brand outside paid placements.
What coverage they did have was thin and generic: listing-style copy on travel portals, a handful of German lifestyle mentions written for a different audience, and almost nothing on the Austrian travel desks guests still trust when planning a domestic trip. The brand sounded international in the worst way — polished, interchangeable, and easy to scroll past.
The commercial problem was not awareness in February. It was discoverability in the months that actually needed filling, and a content posture that treated every stay as a product feature rather than a reason to travel.

Demand map
Winter brand strength was left alone; the brief targeted city-break, wellness and shoulder-season queries Austrians actually search.
Approach
We left the winter brand alone and rebuilt the programme around the demand that was soft — with editorial that guests would actually read.
Search and booking data showed where the brand already won and where Austrian queries for wellness, city breaks and shoulder weekends went elsewhere. The brief was rewritten around those soft months only.
Pieces for Austrian travel and lifestyle titles led with destination and occasion. The stay appeared as the illustration, not the headline, which is how editors were willing to run them.
Regional and source-market titles mirrored where guests actually book from. Prestige national hits were welcome; catchment coverage sold rooms.
Native writers replaced amenity lists with the language Austrian travellers use when they plan. Property teams supplied the detail; we stopped marketing from inventing it.
After the seasonal push, a retainer maintained presence so the soft months did not go dark again the following year.

In their words
Winter was never the problem. Getting Austrian travellers to find us for wellness and city-break stays in the soft months finally gave our revenue team something to work with.

If your winter brand is strong and your shoulder months are not, the gap is usually editorial discovery rather than another OTA campaign. Tell us which properties need the soft months filled.
